LOCATION - Travelling position: We do not require you to live in a specific location for this position, as it is a traveling position, but you will be expected to report to one of our current job sites across the US. Tepa is a federal prevailing wage contractor. Pay rates will be determined by project and location.

ABOUT THE JOB

Tepa Companies is looking for a Journeyman Electrician to join the Industrial Services Team. You will be responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from a technical blueprint.


Responsibilities include:

  • Review plans and specifications
  • Complete layout, sketch dimensional drawings of pads, sleeves, underground runs, electrical rooms, and equipment rooms
  • Assist apprentice workers in their performance of assigned duties
  • Ensure equipment is in proper working condition
  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical control, wiring, lighting systems, apparatuses, fixtures, and equipment
  • Read technical diagrams and blueprints
  • Perform general electrical maintenance
  • Inspect and maintain transformer and circuit breakers and other electrical components
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues using appropriate testing devices
  • Repair and replace equipment, electrical wiring, and fixtures
  • Comply with National Electrical Code, state, and local building regulations
  • Prepare and assemble conduits and connect wiring through them
  • Install safety and distribution components (e.g., switches, resistors, circuit-breaker panels, etc.)
  • Connect wiring in electrical circuits and networks ensuring compatibility of components
  • Prevent breakdown of systems by routinely inspecting and replacing old wiring and insulated cables, cleaning circuits, etc.
  • Troubleshoot damaged systems and units to identify hazards or malfunctions; repair or substitute damaged units
  • Coordinate installation with other trades on project sites
  • Ensure safe installation practices are followed


WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • High School diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience as Journeyman Electrician
  • Completion of an electrician apprenticeship
  • Experience in operating hand tools, and power tools
  • Must have a working knowledge of various test equipment
  • Must have an advanced knowledge of electrical systems, power generation, blueprints, and maintenance and repair
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with Superintendents, Operators, Laborers, and all other personnel on site
  • Must be able to understand, read, and write in English
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and written instructions
  • Must have a working knowledge of the National Electric Code, and applicable Unified Facilities Guide Specifications and Unified Facilities Criteria
  • Must be able to troubleshoot and have a strong attention to detail
  • Must have physical dexterity
  • Must be able to work in elevated areas
