As the Model Shop Technician, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless operation of our fabrication processes. You will be responsible for overseeing the production of architectural models, training team members in the proper and safe use of the Shop, and ensuring the proper maintenance and function of shop equipment. The ideal candidate is a hands-on and experienced individual with a strong background in woodworking, 3D printing, and other fabrication techniques.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with architects, designers, and project managers to understand project requirements and timelines.
  • Assist in planning and scheduling fabrication projects, allocating resources effectively to meet project deadlines.
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of fabrication equipment, ensuring safety protocols are followed.
  • Manage material inventory, sourcing, and procurement to ensure adequate supplies are available for ongoing projects.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to create a secure working environment for all team members.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Previous experience (3+ years) managing or working in a fabrication shop management, preferably within an architecture, design, or related field.
  • Strong proficiency in woodworking, 3D printing, and other relevant fabrication techniques.
  • Demonstrated management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to a safe, responsible, and creative working environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in architecture, design, engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required).
